It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve as President of this extraordinary group of women who continue to inspire and uplift every day. Our continued inspiration is indisputable.

Since our chartering on December 11, 1948, we have been deeply rooted in Jefferson County, Arkansas, dedicated to making a meaningful impact through service, leadership, and empowerment. Guided by the leadership of our International President & CEO, Danette Anthony Reed, and South Central Regional Director, Shawn Emerson Simmons, PhD, we proudly implement our International Program Initiatives. Our commitment to Pine Bluff, Arkansas and surrounding cities in Jefferson County is evident in all that we “DOO”; from fostering strong sisterhood bonds to promoting health and wellness, building economic wealth, advancing social justice, promoting environmental sustainability, and supporting our neighbors through meaningful community service. By addressing the needs of our community, we strive to inspire and empower individuals to achieve their highest potential.

The women of Alpha Kappa Alpha are connected by their shared histories as Black women, their philanthropic causes to uplift the community, and their values for higher education. This sisterhood was founded in 1908 at Howard University

Academic Excellence

Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha are university-educated women who strive for and encourage academic excellence. The Delta Omega Omega members have Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degrees in a wide range of academic areas.

Community Service

Since 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha has implemented programs of service impacting countless lives. The members in Pine Bluff continue to carry on this legacy of service.

We Are

Our Sorority

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® (AKA), an international service organization, was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1908. It is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-educated women.

Our Mission

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® was founded on a mission of five basic tenets that have remained unchanged since the sorority’s inception. Our mission is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of “Service to All Mankind.”
